When teeth have decay, cracks or cavities, it is recommended that you get dental radiographs taken to check and confirm the depth of the decay or cavity. That way we can diagnose the condition, and therefore depending on how deep it is, we can do a filling. If the decay has reached the pulp, then it is advisable to do a root canal treatment to eliminate pain and save the tooth.

Gum disease is prevalent and may result in bleeding, painful or swollen gums. We recommended that you do cleaning at least every six months to get rid of the plaque, or calculus, which causes gum disease. On the day of the appointment, the clinician will demonstrate to you how to have good oral hygiene, with the aid of dental floss and mouth wash.

Taking teeth out should be the last option. However, if the tooth can’t be saved, due to gum disease, grossly carious teeth with dental abscess where root canal cannot be performed, either due to the damage or the location of the tooth, we do recommend extraction of that tooth. treatment to eliminate pain and save the tooth.

Paediatric Dentistry is offered to children with primary or milk teeth. Introducing children to dental appointments at a young age is recommended, where they will be made aware of taking care of their teeth from a very young age. Specific treatments include fissure sealants, flourish treatment, polishing, fillings, extractions etc.

Correcting crooked teeth with braces greatly improves your confidence to smile again. Treatment typically lasts between one to two years, depending upon patient age, treatment plan and the required amount of correction. This is a great time to get the smile of your dreams.

Root canal treatment (also called Endodontics) is needed when there is an infection in your pulp, through tooth decay or the tooth is damaged by an injury to your mouth. This infection may spread through the root canal system, which could eventually lead to a dental abscess, causing a great deal of discomfort or pain. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be taken out. Our Dentist can perform root canal treatment to stop the infection from spreading and will preserve as much of your tooth as possible. Using specific techniques and advanced equipment, you will receive a local anaesthetic, and the treatment overall should feel no different to having an ordinary filling placed. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infections. A temporary filling is put in on the first appointment, and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a few days later, and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure, and most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits. To keep your mouth in shape, we recommend you come in for regular hygiene appointments and dental check-ups.

If you frequently wake up with a sore jaw, a dull headache or tooth pain, you could be suffering from a condition called bruxism. Bruxism is also known as grinding and clenching of your teeth which affects about 10 to 15 per cent of adults. This is a habit usually caused by stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, medications, malocclusion etc.

There are several ways to alleviate the effects of bruxism. One of the most common, which we recommend and offer, is a nightguard. This is an appliance typically worn while sleeping through the night. It protects teeth from rubbing against each other. Mouthguards are also suitable for professional and amateur athletes

Modern tooth-whitening procedures have come a long way over the past decade. With cutting-edge techniques to reverse the effects of ageing and abuse from food and tobacco stains, Pravoma Dental Clinic’s services can effectively restore the radiant smile of people with stained, dull or discoloured teeth.

Often, the darker tissue of your teeth—the dentin—can become exposed as the outer layer of enamel is worn away by the likes of ageing, caffeine, cigarettes, berries etc. Over time, teeth become more absorbent and vulnerable to staining.

Dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. Veneers placed on the surface of affected teeth improve badly stained, shaped or crooked teeth. Comprising thin pieces of porcelain or plastic cemented over the front of your teeth, they also allow patients to change the colour or shape. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or teeth that are chipped, discoloured, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. Little or no anaesthesia is needed.

Veneers have a longer life expectancy & colour stability than bonding and resist staining from coffee, tea or cigarette smoking. Veneers can mask undesirable defects (teeth stained by tetracycline, by an injury or as a result of a root-canal procedure) and are ideal for masking discoloured fillings in front teeth. Veneers are also an excellent choice for patients with gaps between front teeth or those that are chipped or worn may. The process entails diagnosis and treatment planning, preparation, and bonding. And the result: a brand new, confident smile!

If you have a few or all of your teeth missing, one of the solutions is to have a denture. A denture is made from hard-wearing material that mimics the look of the teeth and gums to give your mouth a natural appearance. Your denture will be made to fit snugly on your gums, and you will be able to remove it for cleaning. When you wear a denture for the first time, it may take some time to adjust when speaking, eating and chewing. You must take extra care in your hygiene regime so that you can avoid bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease. The clinician will be able to show you how to best take care of your denture and gums.

If you’re missing a tooth or teeth, a dental bridge may be just what you need. These are permanently cemented to replace missing teeth (Fixed Prosthodontics). Dental crowns not only look natural, but they will also feel natural in your mouth, providing comfortable chewing and aiding regular oral functions. Apart from its cosmetic appeal, Dental Bridges also helps the chewing process because they are custom-made, barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.
